Boxwood Gulch Fishing Report for Sun, 23 Feb 2003

Mills is holding a nice 23 inch Bow he landed in the Oxbow at Boxwood. The fish took a #22 red Copper John fished with a chartreuse micro egg.

The following is taken from an excellent fishing report that Brian Austin of The Hatch sent me. It sums up the fishing this winter from a guide who is here every week.

“All in all, fishing has been excellent this winter. Most fish have been taken with #20-22 black or red Midge patterns and green/peach micro eggs. The most productive patterns have been crystal midges, black pheasant tails, black beauties, and red hots. We also have been catching fish on a variety of blue midge patterns. Our biggest fish has been around 27 inches and 9 pounds. Given a typical group of 4 anglers, we’ve been averaging 60 fish in the net.”

The flow has been a constant 150cfs, no ice, some wind, no snow, cold mornings, mild afternoons, hot fish.
