August Fishing Report

IMG_6994

It was difficult to select a photo for this month’s fishing report.  So many gorgeous fish were landed of every species in the Boxwood Gulch and Long Meadow area of the river.  I picked the photo of Mike with this beautiful 24 inch Brown.

Fishing/catching was great on streamers, and small midge patterns all month.  Some surface action was had on various May Fly patterns. A good drift was more important than the fly. Since most of the guides have been coming to Boxwood for years they always know what is working.

We started the month with a flow of 105 cfs and right now its about 55 cfs.  This is all just natural flow. Denver Water is not releasing water through Roberts Tunnel.  We need water. Even a trickle of water through “the Tunnel” would help the fish and the entire eco-system make it thru the winter.

Due to the low flows we are going to be fishing mornings only…7 AM until 12:30 PM. (If we get more water we will go back to our regular hours) Please check with your outfitter/guide for more details on how this works.
