We opened on April 29 in a snow storm and it’s still snowing on May 1. Temps 25-34 degrees F. Low flow of 29-37 cfs….. luckily no wind. Very unusual weather to be this way for 3 days.
The good news is the fish are still cooperating and taking pink worms, black streamers, Prince Nymphs, and a variety of Midge patterns. The really good news is that many trophy Rainbows in the 10+ lb area were landed. Of course many more broke off. All species have been landed: Bows, Tigers, Brooks, Cutthroats and Browns all on the same trip. The largest Bow landed, by Dave G., taped at 29 inches.
We expect increasing temps this week up to 60 degrees. The snow melt will add some flow to the river and the fishing/catching will be even better.
See you on your next trip to Boxwood/Long Meadow.
