June: What a Month for Big Trout

huge_bow

… like the one Cathy T. landed at Long Meadow on 6-26-16. This is just one of several really huge Trout that Cathy and her family landed on a 2 day trip to Boxwood and Long Meadow.

Our high water in June was only 470 cfs and we fished it with great success. While gin clear water looks great some color to the water produces more big fish. Anglers landed all of our species. Some anglers landed them all the same day. We’re talking a Boxwood Grand Slam of: Rainbows, Brookies, Browns, Snake River Cuts, Rio Grande Cuts, and Tigers. I have not seen a Palomino for several months…I think the Eagles ate them for lunch.

Hot flies for June…San Juan worms, #16-#18 Pheasant Tails, Caddis Emergers, Wooly Buggers, Chamois leech, Breadcrust, #20 various Midge patterns.

If you want a trip in June of 2017 our calendar of available dates is usually posted on this web site in late January.
Find a date that works well for your trip and then call the outfitter listed for that date. Get ready to catch some quality  fish and have a great time.
