Summer fishing on the North Fork has been outstanding, with cold, gin-clear water from the Roberts Tunnel producing consistent action all season long. Guides report excellent success using squirmy worms, leeches, sowbugs, mysis, eggs, small foam-wing emergers, and midge patterns, while hopper-dropper and caddis-dropper rigs have been especially productive lately. Streamers have also moved big fish on cloudy days. Anglers are regularly landing double-digit numbers of trout, with trophy rainbows exceeding 24 inches, and healthy populations of browns, cutbows, brook trout, tiger trout, and palominos making for memorable multi-species days. If you’re looking for dependable conditions, abundant fish, and a legitimate shot at a trophy trout, Boxwood and Long Meadow are the spots to fish this summer.
