Summer fishing on the North Fork has been outstanding, with cold, gin-clear water from the Roberts Tunnel producing consistent action all season long. Guides report excellent success using squirmy worms, leeches, sowbugs, mysis, eggs, small foam-wing emergers, and midge patterns, while hopper-dropper and caddis-dropper rigs have been especially productive lately. Flows on the North Fork continue to be healthy for the fish and great for the anglers—between 250–450 CFS—with cold, clear to mostly clear water, offering fantastic sight-fishing. Anglers are landing an impressive mix: rainbow, cutbow, brown, brook, tiger, and palomino trout, with most trips yielding several fish over 22 inches, […]
Anglers at Boxwood Gulch Ranch and Long Meadow Ranch have been treated to excellent conditions and even better fishing during the opening week of the 2025 season! Stream flows have ranged between 200 to 400 cfs, creating a healthy, trout-friendly environment that remains very accessible for wading anglers. Water clarity […]
Our guests enjoyed spectacular winter fishing from mid-February through March 12. Egg – midge combos were extremely effective, as were leech patterns and small streamers. Unfortunately, Denver Water decreased the flow from the Roberts Tunnel on March 13, causing the ranch to close until runoff begins later this spring.
First February reports have been fantastic! Trout have been found in all the major runs and holes at Boxwood, both in the main channel and side channel. Water temps are cold per expected, so strikes are subtle. The majority of action in winter is subsurface with careful drifts and smaller […]
Since opening in late May, stream flows have fluctuated between 250 and 500 cfs at the peak of runoff. Unlike other destinations that are unfishable during runoff, the structure and holding water at Boxwood and Long Meadow fish great through the high water. The off color water provides guides and […]
Flows on the North Fork have remained steady and water clarity has been generally excellent. Flows from the Roberts Tunnel have provided an average flow around 200 cfs. Fish and anglers alike have enjoyed the cold clean water. Anglers are taking fish on small nymph combos such as worm-midge, mysis-baetis, […]
You should have been here on any day in June. The water was perfect at 170-300 CFS and overall the weather was good. Anglers landed some great fish all month: 24 inch Tigers, 17 inch Brook Trout, 22 inch Palominos, and lots of Rainbows between 22 and 28 inches. We […]
Fishing is still great. While many of the rivers across the State are blown out by the run off, fishing has remained excellent at Boxwood and Long Meadow. Our water conditions are off colored with some clearing in the afternoon. Flows have been in the 170-230 cfs range. The guides […]
Wow…what a month so far. Water flows of 170 cfs and some nice warm weather have contributed to anglers landing a lot of trophy fish … particularly at Long Meadow. If you have not fished Long Meadow you should give it a try. Cross the fence at Boxwood and you […]
