June/July Fishing Report

The fishing at Boxwood this June and July has been outstanding! Anglers have enjoyed hooking/landing double digit numbers and fish well over 20.”

Excellent stream flows have been generally steady between 350-550 CFS, with an average of 400 flowing from the Roberts tunnel.

As other rivers around the state have begun voluntary closures due to warm water temps, the guests of Boxwood have enjoyed full days of fishing and plenty of cold water.

Our guides have reported that the new stream improvements above the bridge at Long Meadow Ranch have provided outstanding holding water and structure for trout in the high flows. The terrain has been fishable even as flows topped 600 CFS, the added structure has given the fish a break from the heavy current, and provided anglers with excellent fishing access as well.

Anglers have been using a wide array of nymphs including small stoneflies, midges, scuds, sowbugs, and soft hackles to sight fish in clear water. On certain days, the streamer bite has been outstanding as well.

We have reports that flows will continue to be steady along the North Fork South Platte through August, and we expect excellent fishing to continue!
