Anglers at Boxwood Gulch Ranch and Long Meadow Ranch have been treated to excellent conditions and even better fishing during the opening week of the 2025 season! Stream flows have ranged between 200 to 400 cfs, creating a healthy, trout-friendly environment that remains very accessible for wading anglers.
Water clarity has been moderate, which has opened the door to outstanding streamer fishing. Aggressive trout have been hammering patterns like Goldies, Slumpbusters, and other flashy or articulated flies
The cold spring water temps have the fish feeding almost exclusively subsurface, and the nymph game has been very productive. Larger patterns are key: San Juan Worms (pink and red), leeches, egg patterns, and big stoneflies have consistently brought fish to the net.
Anglers are regularly reporting double-digit fish days, with numerous fish over the 20-inch mark being landed. What’s made the experience even more memorable is the variety — it’s been common to catch multiple species in a single outing. Rainbows, cutbows, browns, brookies, tiger trout, and even the elusive palomino trout have all made for great days on the North Fork South Platte
